Cactus Compression Inc. was formed in 1993 by our President, Tom McNeill. Tom moved up through the ranks at Gas Compressors Inc. from 1982 to 1994, starting by working in the shop, and then working as an apprentice to GCI's president, Mike O'Connor, before moving into sales and, later, into management of the company. He served as Vice-President of the Southeast Region for GCI from 1989 through 1992, with profit/loss responsibility for three states.Later, serving as Vice-President of GCI's used equipment affiliate, he broadened his expertise and was afforded new contacts within the industry.Surprising to many, he sold good reliable used compression equipment from GCI's fleet and helped supply many fledgling rental fleets. In early 1994, he "left the nest" and started operations of Cactus Compression Inc., concentrating on rental compression work in Texas RRC Districts 1, 2, 3, & 4
In 1996, he again went to work for Mike O'Connor! Mike was Chairman of the Board at Hanover Compressor Company. Hanover bought most of the assets of Cactus Compression and Tom went to work as Used Equipment Manager. Hanover grew quickly, went public in 1997, and became the largest gas compression rental company in the world. Tom optimized Hanover's rental assets as part of the Asset Management Team, but, with the presentation of a new challenge, he moved over to run Compression Components Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hanover that specialized in used compressor packages and new OEM and generic parts for gas compressors.
The entrepreneurial bug bit again in 2004, and Tom left to crank up Cactus Compression Inc. Starting from a few units that were held for use on self-owned gas wells, the fleet again began to grow. Currently, Cactus operates rental equipment in Texas RRC Districts 1, 2, 3, 4, & 6, as well as southwesternLouisiana, and sells compressors, generators, and other rotating equipment worldwide.
